Simple Nails for a friend :)

For starters- sorry for the week long hiatus! I’ve been a busy bee this week, got the chance to talk to my hubby! :D

It’s been awhile since I’ve featured Savannah’s nails! :)

I recently did a super yet, yet super simple manicure for her. I used Zoya Carey and another Zoya I don’t quite remember! I’m sorry!

Splatterday!

Participating in “Splaturday” this weekend with some other lovely ladies!

This was my first splatter mani EVER! I taped the left hand and then got lazy and didn’t tape the right. Lesson learned: splatting is messy. Use protection. ;)

Colors used…… you know, to be perfectly honest, I’m not sure. I put them all away and forgot to look at some of the names. This is what I think I remember:
OPI Pedal Faster Suzi
OPI Thanks A WindMillion
Zoya Kristen
Zoya Megan
China Glaze White on White

I splattered all fingers except an accent. On the accent I did a base coat of OPI Pedal Faster Suzi, and then using White on White and Kristen, painted some dainty little roses :)

Copy cat nails!

A group of friends and I are doing weekly challenges and the theme that votes this week was “copy cat nails” — I tried out one set that I really liked and turns out I’m no good at painting birds. Acetone to the rescue!

After searching I stumbled upon this one on The Illustrated Nail. I would link you directly to the image I took my “inspiration” from but to be honest, I’m  a little Tumblr illiterate and I don’t know how to link directly to an image instead of the whole tumblr. :(

I picked this for 2 reasons:
a) Hubby is in the Navy, and I liked the anchor.
b) I started getting into nail polish purely because I loved the whole “NAIL ART” aspect of it! Over the past few months I’ve gotten away from it and started to swatch more often… and to be honest, I’m not into swatching. (Don’t get me wrong: I LOVE blogs that swatch!!!) So I decided that for this copy cat I needed to go big or go home- I wanted something that was 100% hand drawn nail ART.

The biggest issue I had with this design is the fact that I don’t have any nail art pens and I’m 99.9999% sure she used a pen for the outlines/thin lines in this design. I had to settle for using a really thin brush but I don’t think it came out TOO bad! (And I’ll definitely be investing in pens soon!)

Again: ALL credit for this design goes to The Illustrated Nail! :)

Polishes I used:
Orly Liquid Vinyl
China Glaze For Audrey
China Glaze Star Spangled
Orly Royal Navy (tehehe)

*I also used black and white acrylic paint because it’s more opaque and I’d rather not waste the polish.

Something a little different for you…

So this is a nail blog… I don’t do makeup but when butter LONDON contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in reviewing their new Lippy lip gloss (made to coordinate with some of their amazing polishes), I jumped at the chance!

They sent me Trout Pout and Teddy Girl and their coordinating polishes to try out—I have to say seeing the Lippy glosses in person really got me excited! The colors are gorgeous and they are pretty much right on the money in terms of matching the polish!

Trout Pout Polish (don’t mind my nails, it’s been a bad week for breaks!):

Impression: I LOVED the colors, like I mentioned. They’re super pretty in the bottle, and they’re pretty on too (but thinking Teddy Girl may not be the right shade for me). The formula of Lippy is pretty thick and didn’t apply as smoothly as I hoped it would. However, normally when wearing gloss I have a base of something under it but for the purposes of this review I opted to put it on bare lips. That definitely may have had a lot to do with the application.

All in all, these colors are pretty nice! I definitely will be wearing Trout Pout again!

You can purchase butter LONDON from their website, or your local Ulta and Dillards.

Follow butter LONDON on Facebook or Twitter!

Stay tuned for tomorrow!!! I have a special giveaway for you and it has something to do with this post!!! ;)
